Mice and Men

This essay is about the film mice and men. I am going to talk about several points of interest; the role of Curley’s wife, the plot and what my opinion is about the film. I write this essay as an exercise to improve my writing skills because it is not sufficient yet. The story goes about a friendship between 2 men in which one is very clever (George) and one is very dumb (Lennie). They share the same dream and to achieve this dream they need money. Life is not that easy and there happen a lot of things which come in their way to make their dream come true.

One of the things which come on their way is Curley’s wife called Candy. Candy is a beautiful and friendly girl with no bad intentions at all. She lives with Curley in a house on the range, where Curley, George, Lennie and a lot of other men work. Candy feels very lonely because Curley is always away working and there are no other girls to talk to. Sometimes she tries to talk to the workers when they come back after a long day on the fields, unfortunately without any success because the men want to stay out of trouble. Lennie finds it hard to understand she is ‘dangerous’ and even after George prohibited him to talk to her, he finally does. From my point of view she was brought up in the story to make it more exciting and unpredictable. I had not expected that Lennie would finally talk to her, he was so obsessed with their dream and he knew it would not come true when he would talk to Candy. So I think the role of Curley’s wife in the film was to give it an unexpected twist.

After Lennie broke Candy’s neck by accident he went to the secret place where he would meet with George if he did anything ‘bad’. George made up a plan so he would be earlier by Lennie than the other workers who wanted to punish him. George knew that if he would not safe Lennie he would have to suffer a lot and he wanted to prevent this. It was too late to run away and the only solution George saw was to shoot Lennie himself. Everybody has a different opinion on this, some say it was justified and others find it condemnable. In my opinion in spite of it is terrible and you can not explain such things as murder, it was the best solution for Lennie but also for George. Lennie was saved from a lot pain and George could go on with his life which had been held up by Lennie, therefore it was justified.

To conclude, I think it is a very good film and nice to use for a discussion with friends or in class. I would say the role of Curley’s wife was to give the story an unexpected twist and George did the best what he could do and therefore it was justified.

Mice and Men
This essay is about the film mice and men. I am going to talk about several points of interest;
the role of Curley’s wife, the plot and what my opinion is about the film. I write this essay as
an exercise to improve my writing skills because it is not sufficient yet.
The story goes about a friendship between 2 men in which one is very clever (George) and
one is very dumb (Lennie). They share the same dream and to achieve this dream they need
money. Life is not that easy and there happen a lot of things which come in their way to
make their dream come true.
One of the things which come on their way is Curley’s wife called Candy. Candy is a
beautiful and friendly girl with no bad intentions at all. She lives with Curley in a house on the
range, where Curley, George, Lennie and a lot of other men work. Candy feels very lonely
because Curley is always away working and there are no other girls to talk to. Sometimes
she tries to talk to the workers when they come back after a long day on the fields,
unfortunately without any success because the men want to stay out of trouble. Lennie finds
it hard to understand she is ‘dangerous’ and even after George prohibited him to talk to her,
he finally does. From my point of view she was brought up in the story to make it more
exciting and unpredictable. I had not expected that Lennie would finally talk to her, he was so
obsessed with their dream and he knew it would not come true when he would talk to Candy.
So I think the role of Curley’s wife in the film was to give it an unexpected twist.
After Lennie broke Candy’s neck by accident he went to the secret place where he would
meet with George if he did anything ‘bad’. George made up a plan so he would be earlier by
Lennie than the other workers who wanted to punish him. George knew that if he would not
safe Lennie he would have to suffer a lot and he wanted to prevent this. It was too late to run
away and the only solution George saw was to shoot Lennie himself. Everybody has a
